On October 23, 2018, Mega Millions awarded a whopping $1.537 billion jackpot prize to a single ticket holder. This fell short of the largest prize of $1.586 billion in the Powerball lottery awarded in 2016, and shared by multiple ticket holders. The lottery draws are done on Wednesday and on Saturday.
How to Play Mega Millions
Players need to choose numbers from two different sets. Five numbers out of 70 need be selected first, plus 1 gold ball number out another set of 25 gold balls. The player needs to only guess one of the sets correctly in order to win a prize. Those that get the 5+1 combination correct, get the top jackpot. Besides these numbers, there is a Megaplier number as well, which can multiply the winnings if one chooses to pay for it.
